A free community forum, title “All in the Family: A UCSF Update on Hereditary Cancer,” will be presented on Tuesday, Dec. 12, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion.
All members of the public are invited to attend. A reception will follow the event.
At the forum, experts will address commonly expressed concerns about genetic risk for cancer, provide updates on new advances, and explain how elevated risk can be mitigated by surveillance, preventive surgery and lifestyle changes. Part of the program will include a panel comprising both UCSF patients and genetic counselors.
The event is presented by the UCSF Cancer Risk Program in observance of its 10th anniversary. The program provides genetic counseling and gene testing for families suspected of harboring hereditary cancer.
